One of the wonders of the Tour de France is the fact that anyone can cycle on the same routes as the 'géants de la route'. Tackling the annual L' Étape du Tour - one of the key mountain stages from that year's parcours one week before the pro's is a way of getting even closer still that experience.
The 2016 Étape is based on Stage 20; the viciously jagged route from Megève to Morzine that will ultimately decide who climbs the podium on the Champs Elysses. Concerns about the possibilities of landslides mean that the Col du Ramaz has been omitted from the sportive route but the 15,000 riders still have to tackle the Col du Avaris, Col de la Colombiére and the Haute Categorie Col du Joux Plane; climbing more than 4,000m in just over 122km.
