They take their one day racing very seriously in Belgium, and in Flanders in particular. The Ronde Van Vlaanderen - the Tour of Flanders - is the pinnacle of Flemish racing and is an incredible event to experience. The passion of the fans by the roadsides is only matched by the sinew bursting efforts that reduce the peloton time and time again. The race is played out against an almost medieval backdrop of baying crowds and fluttering yellow and black flags displaying the Lion of Flanders.
The Women's race is run on the same day as the older Men's race and follows the same course for the latter part of it's route, taking in the iconic Muur in Geraardsbergen, the Koppenberg and the Paterberg before finishing in Oudenaarde. This year the race will be streamed live online in full.

The 2017 race ended with a highly unusual mass bunch sprint. A strong group of four riders looked to have broken the will of the peloton but great work by Team Sunweb brought the chasing group to come back in the final few kilometres and Coryn Rivera, Sunweb's American sprinter riding her first year in Europe, stormed to the front and took a massive victory.
